Dialight to unveil novel lighting technology
Dubai:

Dialight, a leader in the development of new light-emitting diode (LED) solutions, is set to unveil its new innovative lighting technology at the upcoming "Middle East Electricity 2012," expo in Dubai.

A leading power event, Middle East Electricity will run from February 7 to 9 with focus on power, lighting, renewable, nuclear and water sectors, said the organisers Informa Exhibitions.

It has so far attracted more than 1,000 exhibitors looking to capitalise on the region’s booming energy sector, they added.

Dialight, a $150 million company with base in UK and US, has been in the forefront of LED light fittings, and has operations in Denmark, Germany, Japan, Australia, and Mexico.

The LED luminaires are designed specifically for industrial and hazardous locations including factories and oil rigs, as well as transportation and infrastructure applications such as roads and traffic signals, said a senior official.

The company had opened its Middle East headquarters in Dubai in early 2011 as part of its plans to boost its presence in the region.

“Our LED lighting is well established in the US where it typically reduces lighting energy needs by 65 per cent when replacing traditional high pressure sodium lighting,” said Pieter Zijlmans, general manager of Dialight Middle East.

“To illustrate its potential, if all street lights in the US converted to LED lighting the output of 42 power stations could be saved,” he added.

Dialight, he said, is aimed at helping organisations reduce energy use and C02 emissions besides improving safety, easing disposal and lower maintenance costs.

According to him, Dialight will showcase a full range of its product portfolio at the expo headed by the DuroSite Series LED High Bay Luminaires for warehouses and factories, and the StreetSense Series LED Street Lights for roads and highways.

“After installing just 126 of our DuroSite Series LED High Bays over two warehouses jointly covering 20,000 sq m, one of our major clients in the UK saw energy savings of 555,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually, saving $67,000 and reducing carbon emissions by 271 tonnes,” added Zijlmans.

Since opening the UAE office, Dialight said it has secured five separate projects totalling $700,000, supplying LED luminaires to industrial warehouses, food storage facilities and oil rigs in the region.

On this year's event,' Informa said the new additions include two separate industry conferences: Power and Utilities Infrastructure, on 8 and 9 February, which will address the most pressing issues in the regional utilities landscape; and Smart Power 2012, from 7-9 February, focusing on the development and future of smart energy policies.

Other new features include the Middle East Electricity Awards, the VIP 100 Club and an extended programme of technical seminars.-TradeArabia News Service
