Umniah to offer inflight mobile service

Umniah, Jordan’s pioneering provider of telecommunications services, will soon provide its customers facilities to make phone calls, SMS and use mobile internet services via their mobiles while travelliong on board Royal Jordanian Airlines.
This service is the first of its type to be launched in the Kingdom and it comes in light of an agreement Umniah had signed with in-flight passenger communications services provider “OnAir”.
This service will also be available for Umniah subscribers on board other international airlines in the near future including Air France, TAP Portugal, Bmi, Ryanair, Shenzhen irlines, Air Asia X, Jazeera Airways, and Oman Air.
The subscribers can be make outgoing calls, receive incoming calls, use mobile internet facilities and use the SMS, while on board, said an Umniah official.
Value-added services and roaming manager at Umniah Mohammad Serieh, said Umniah was launching the new service inline with its strong belief in the importance of providing its subscribers with communication tools that surpass obstacles caused by geographical distance.
”We are now granting our subscribers the ability to communicate with relatives and friends even while flying on board Royal Jordanian, for we realise that mobile communications are an indispensable advantage that need to be maintained anywhere and anytime,” he noted.
