Google set for Gitex debut
Dubai

Internet giant Google said it will unveil projects it has been working on in the Middle East-North Africa region at the Gitex Technology Week.

Google said its team will be present at their first ever Gitex Forum from October 19 to 23 as part of one of four companies at the Dubai Internet City (DIC) booth.

Husni Khuffash, country business development manager UAE, who will unveil Google's Search Marketing project, said: 'We are very excited to be participating at our first Gitex conference this year in partnership with DIC. Our participation showcases our efforts to continue engaging with our business partners and commitment to the Middle East.'

Yasmina Brihi, regional marketing manager for Mena will also be on hand to discuss about Google products and gadgets like Chrome (the latest search browser), Knol or iGoogle.

Jesper Frederiksen, head of Enterprise EMEA, will be at the booth to discuss cloud computing.

Google has been busy in the Mena region for more than a year. It opened its office in Dubai in 2007 to focus on improving the search experience in Arabic while building relations locally and educating businesses about the possibilities of search advertising.

Malek Al Malek, executive director of Dubai Internet City said: 'Google is a global technology leader, offering information by the second to millions of people around the world.

'As a DIC business partner, we hope to establish more meaningful partnerships with Google and work towards finding innovative ways to augment the region's IT industry.'

Yasmina Brihi, said: 'We've worked so hard over the last year and a half to continue to bring more and more to Arab users on the web.

'Everything from launching Knol in Arabic as the second language worldwide to the launch of iGoogle, Gmail and Chrome in Arabic showcases our commitment to the region and providing access to information. We have a lot more to do but we hope Gitex visitors will come by the booth so we can show them what we've been up to!' TradeArabia News Service
