Dubai, February 8, 2009
AMD has presented its new energy-efficient Opteron HE series processor to data center managers at the IDC CIO Event in Dubai.
“In the current economic environment, datacenter managers are under more pressure than ever to reduce costs without compromising the latest features or performance,” said Dr Gaith Kadir, general manager Middle East and North Africa, AMD.
“Our new AMD Opteron HE series processor offers superior performance-per-watt and cost-efficiencies for a wide range of configurations. In the second quarter AMD plans to take energy-efficiency to the next level in introducing even lower ACP processors for the unique demands of cloud computing environments.”
According to Kadir, in today's challenging IT environment and the current state of the global economy, it becomes even more imperative for CIOs to identify solutions that are cost efficient, forward looking and which address the customers’ needs.
Technical partner Sun Microsystems’ global systems engineer manager (Middle East and North Africa) Waleed Hosny added: “Our strategic partnership with AMD has allowed Sun Microsystems to combine industry expertise from both companies which is essential to offer businesses superior solutions.
“In this challenging time, companies are looking for efficient utilization of their IT assets and cost cutting solutions with long term benefits. Our servers powered with AMD Opteron processor will enable businesses to address the current financial and environmental challenges through improved performance, scalability and energy efficient product line,” he said. – TradeArabia News Service
