Kalaam Telecom appoints new COO

Manama, August 2, 2010

Kalaam Telecom has appointed Veer Passi as acting chief operating officer of the company.

Passi will also continue to serve as the company’s chief financial officer, a statement said.

The move follows Suleiman Maani, its chief executive officer, leaving the company to pursue another opportunity.

“We are very pleased to announce that Veer, who had joined Kalaam, as its chief financial officer in June 2009 will be assuming the larger role of managing the day to day operations of the company,” said Nezar Mohammed Al Saie, chairman of Kalaam Telecom. “We have been working hard to design an organizational structure that will best enable Kalaam to achieve its operating and financial goals and with the operational efficiencies we have seen over the past year, it gives us the confidence that Kalaam is well positioned now to implement multiple growth initiatives.”

Veer possesses more than 10 years of experience in corporate finance and financial systems management in the telecom industry. Prior to joining Kalaam Telecom, he held various executive management positions with some of the largest GSM and CDMA operators in India including Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications. – TradeArabia News Service
