Juniper plans to tap IT usage boost

Manama, August 25, 2010

Information technology usage is set to rise by around 20 per cent a year across the region and network software specialists Juniper Networks is looking to increase its share of this market.

The company has had a team visiting the region to appraise future development and sees the GCC, particularly Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait, as hotspots for growth.

"We have about 80 people covering the region but we are planning ahead for expansion next year as the market for network solutions continues to grow," said Juniper Networks vice-president and EMEA emerging markets managing director Pim Versteeg.

"We see growth running at 20 per cent but we want to capture a large part of this and we intend to outgrow the market to win market share," he said.

"Given the growth potential in the region, we expect the competition to be fierce because we are all fighting for these hotspots, but we are coming from a position of strength.

"We offer a full suite of hardware and software security enterprise solutions - everything from voice traffic to mobile and fixed data and all forms of video.

"You may not see our name on retail products but in nine out of 10 instances we will have an underlying role in these services.

"We work with all the leading service providers and are major players for the top 500 companies in the industry," he added.

Juniper Networks unveiled a new technology framework with new software and mobility solutions that will transform the user experience and operator economics of mobile broadband.

The new network for mobility is designed to address rapidly changing customer behaviour and expectations, while dramatically improving total costs and revenue opportunities for service providers.

Unlike legacy networks that dominate today's mobile landscape, Juniper's mobility framework is built on open standards and flexible software platforms that will enable mobile operators to handle a broad range of devices, applications and customer needs.

The framework leverages Juniper's breakthrough MX 3D Series Universal Edge Routers and SRX Series Services Gateways, along with innovative Juniper and partner applications, to help mobile operators deploy truly open and secure mobile networks based on Junos software.

New solutions offered includes Juniper Mobile Secure and Juniper Traffic Direct which address the potential growth in mobile data traffic and Juniper Media Flow. – TradeArabia News Service
