Zain Bahrain warns customers against call scam

Manama, April 6, 2011

A series of hoax calls to Zain numbers from callers who identify themselves as being from Zain Bahrain and promising a cash reward, has led to the telecoms company issuing a warning against the call scam.

Zain Bahrain customers have been warned that they should not divulge their personal details to local or international callers who tell them that they have won big cash prizes in a raffle or competition.

The usual method seems to be to ask the customers to then purchase some Prepaid recharge vouchers worth a specific amount of money, and send the voucher numbers back to the caller via SMS message or to relay other personal and private information to the caller, in order to collect their prize.

'We would like to warn our customers that these calls are not from Zain representatives and that they should check for information on all official Zain Bahrain promotions online on www.bh.zain.com or call our 24 hours call centre on 107 for more details,' said a Zain Bahrain spokesperson.

'Zain Bahrain promotions never require customers to give us personal and private information such as bank account details and we would like to emphasize that our valued customers should be very careful.'-TradeArabia News Service
