Juniper rolls out universal WAN solution

Dubai, May 4, 2011

Juniper Networks has introduced its Universal Wan solution, enabling new levels of business agility with a flexible and scalable enterprise and branch routing portfolio optimized to support  mobile, video and cloud computing applications.

Juniper Universal WAN complements the quantum leap in data center performance, operating cost and business agility driven by its new QFabric architecture with exponential improvements in the WAN, including data center-to-data center connectivity, said a company statement.

With its Universal WAN solution, Juniper delivers the industry’s highest performance and most scalable routing offering specifically designed to support distributed enterprises that run business-critical applications across varied locations, including data centers, campuses and branches, it added.

The Wan is composed of new additions to the MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routing portfolio, including the compact MX5, MX10 and MX40 as well as configuration updates to the SRX Series Services Gateways.

The complete solution is powered by Junos, a single, proven operating system with consistent update releases that further increase manageability, operational simplicity and resiliency.

“Low latency and high throughput are critical to the sophisticated technology that allows OpenX customers to maximize their online advertising revenue,” said Michael Todd, head of engineering, systems, for OpenX, the world's leading independent provider of digital advertising technology.

“The MX Series and the Junos operating system have given us the ability to rapidly scale our business. The compact versions of the MX Series will give us the two rack unit form factor, power consumption and economy to allow us to further expand our international footprint,” he added.

Juniper’s Universal WAN was built to improve the economics of enterprise routing with an easy-to-deploy solution that has the flexibility to keep pace with evolving applications and traffic patterns, said Mike Marcellin, vice president of marketing and business strategy, Platform Systems Group at Juniper Networks.

The full Universal WAN solution is available for orders today with shipments beginning in the third quarter. The MX80, MX240, MX480, MX960 and SRX Series are currently available, Marcellin revealed.

“Network managers now have a solution that meets the performance needs of the network today while building in the scalability they need to be ready for tomorrow’s WAN traffic requirements,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
