French mobile content group set for Gitex debut

Dubai, August 23, 2011

MobiBase, a leading French mobile content and services editor and a specialist in developing turn-key TV channels, web & mobile applications, is set to debut at this year's Gitex exhibition in Dubai.

One of the largest consumer computer and electronics trade show, Gitex will run from October 9 to 13 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The French firm has just released its 100th multi-screen TV channel with the launch of “Fitness TV”.

'Mobibase has specialized in the publishing of turn-key TV channels for the new medias and is experiencing a strong growth in this sector,' said Vincent Roger, Mobibase’s CEO.

'In 2010, revenues from the sale of our channels have increased by 100 per cent,' he added.

'Indeed, the company offers two types of services: The technical integration of video and TV services on new medias and the delivery of turn-key TV channels,' explained Roger.

'To set an example of technical integration, Mobibase provides the PMU – the French National Horse Betting company- with the capture, encoding and broadcast on Iphone of Equidia programs in the form of Catch Up TV as well as live broadcasting of horse races.'

During the Cannes Film Festival Mobibase proposed a 24-hour event channel covering the Festival news in association with the press agency AFP.

In terms of TV channels, Mobibase enjoys a unique positioning in Europe, said Roger.

'On the basis of more than 600 content agreements in 40 countries, Mobibase has created a unique catalog of channels available on mobiles, smart phones, web, tablets (IPAD…), IPTV and connected TVs,' he added.

This catalog includes linear channels such as: 'Cartoons,' Gaming TV, Scream TV (about horror films), Mad TV (for some of the craziest stuff) News TV, Fitness TV or even Bollywood TV (Indian films).

The possibility to stream on a large number of profiles (5 profiles times 100 channels!) is made possible through innovative encoding and streaming methods, explained Roger.

'For example, Mobibase has developed CoD (Channel On Demand) under which channels are streamed on a profile (edge, 3G...) only if a user is connected.

Therefore, unvisited dataflows are turned off, allowing an optimal allocation of server resources, he added.

These channels are distributed throughout Europe, to mobile and web service providers that wish to offer their customers a quick and easy solution to implement TV selection.

The publisher, he said, defines the TV offer they want with Mobibase, who provides an API link so that the publisher only has to deal with the marketing aspect.

'This innovative approach to broadcasting is part of a fundamental trend: the proliferation of television channels and the explosion of video on the new media, particularly mobile,' he added.-TradeArabia News Service
