Muscat, April 29, 2012

Oman telecom services provider Nawras has signed up leading global information and communication technology (ICT) solutions provider Huawei for its network modernisation and managed services project.

Huawei has considerable experience gained from building commercialised Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks for many of the leading telcos, including the world’s first and fastest LTE network, said the Omani firm in a statement.

Under the agreement, Huawei will provide Radio Access Network (RAN) for Nawras and undertake its modernisation so that it is optimally designed to accommodate anticipated developments including the launch of LTE.

Nawras customers will benefit from improved service speed and quality thereby enhancing the customer experience on every level. This significant milestone marks the beginning of a powerful new radio technology, the statement added.

Nawras said it also plans to sign an agreement with Huawei covering managed services for both the fixed and mobile networks, which will advance efficiency further.-TradeArabia News Service
