Microsoft Arabia sponsors CSR Saudi summit

Microsoft Arabia said it is the technology sponsor of CSR Saudi Arabia 2013, an international corporate social responsibility summit to be held in Jeddah from November 25.
The three-day summit, to be held in Park Hyatt Hotel, will see leading Microsoft CSR specialists presenting case studies of sustainable corporate social responsibility initiatives, said a statement.
Samir Noman, president, said: “Our participation in the summit reflects our commitment to being an active part of the community in which we operate and we look forward to sharing Microsoft’s global expertise and experience in implementing effective and sustainable CSR programmes.”
Presentation titles will include ‘How can Microsoft facilitate your future Candidate?’, which will be an overview of Microsoft’s CSR initiative to support the Saudi government to build IT capability of job seekers and help they get jobs in the IT industry; and ‘Employment Creation via Education and Training.’
“With ITCAN, Microsoft will manage the selection of jobseekers, manage the IT and soft skills training and certifications, and the placement in the private sector,” said Dr Mamdouh Najjar, deputy GM customer and partner experience and CSR.
“Microsoft is in the process of building partnership with the government and the commercial sector to launch this initiative, through which we hope to support the employment of10,000 men and women in 5years and grow our business and image and perception in the Saudi Arabian market.”
The summit’s agenda reflects the kingdom’s priorities which include job creation, building a knowledge economy and promoting gender diversity.
Development of community initiatives is also on the agenda. Represented by a comprehensive stakeholder advisory board, other features are a pre-conference workshop on the subject of taking CSR mainstream and a post conference workshop on turning CSR into a revenue generating model. - TradeArabia News Service
