Avaya seals Suez Canal upgrade deal
Dubai, December 22, 2013
Avaya, a global provider of business collaboration and communication solutions, has signed up a major deal with Suez Canal Authority, one of the most important waterway authorities in the world, in connection with Cairo ICT 2013.
As part of the agreement, the Suez Canal Authority is moving its full 15,000 communications ports to Avaya Aura Communication Manager, said a company statement.
This marks an upgrade to the very latest Avaya solutions, providing them with increased mobility, cost reductions, and greater capability and customer service.
The Suez Canal authority is implementing a similarly revolutionary communications capability upgrade, switching 15,000 legacy communications ports over to Avaya Aura Communication Manager, in a move towards complete unified communications, said a senior official.
"The Suez canal plays a major role in the region’s economies with shipments of goods passing through one of the most vital waterways on the planet, meaning our employees have to be connected at all times no matter their location," remarked Magda Hassan Heshmat, the deputy director, Communications Department at Suez Canal Authority.
"In turn we have closely studied Avaya’s Unified Communication and Collaboration advancements in the market and continue to be impressed with the their capabilities. We believe that Avaya will allow us to cope with the ongoing technology changes and equip our staff and faculty with productive tools of communication and collaboration," he added.
The upgrade, he said, will improve employee mobility, centralizing the communications network with Modular Messaging technology that can ‘find’ employees on any number based off of the time of day, and that co-ordinates messaging across sms, email and voice services.
Avaya country manager Mohamed Hindy said: “While Egypt continues to change and develop as a market, there is an unprecedented opportunity for all organizations – from start-ups to government ministries – to put in place the collaborative, communications, and networking infrastructure foundations that deliver a more streamlined, cost-effective, future-proof working environment."
"The Suez Canal Authority are implementing the latest in Avaya solutions to provide employees and customers the ability to always be on and connected," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
