Shifra seals distribution deal with Corero

Dubai, December 22, 2013

UAE-based Shifra, a value added distributor, has signed a distribution deal with Corero Network Security, a leading provider of First Line of Defense solutions for Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) and cyber threat protection.

The deal will see Shifra extend its portfolio of security solutions in the region, said a senior official.
Paul Lawrence, Corero’s VP International Operations, said: “The Gulf represents a prime area for growth due to its economic strength and widespread usage of online media. Organisations in the region are looking to strengthen their security measures to counteract potential threats, where traditional security solutions are proving insufficient.”

According to him, companies in the UAE are looking to invest and implement countermeasure products and services to block cyber attacks.

As more companies seek to avoid DDoS and other malicious attack activity, Corero provides on-premises DDoS defence technology that inspects, filters and removes attack traffic, while allowing good user traffic to pass un-obstructed; allowing traditional security solutions to operate as intended, added Lawrence.

Ahmad Elkhatib, managing partner at Shifra, said: “The rise in cyber incidents shows just how far the threats have escalated and the Middle East is no exception. A new wave of sophisticated cyber-attacks exists in the region and it has the potential to cripple petrochemical, finance and oil and gas companies.” - TradeArabia News Service
