Ooredoo wins major Samena awards

Qatari telecom operator Ooredoo has won two major global awards from the South Asia, Middle East, North Africa region (Samena) Telecommunication Council.

Ooredoo's chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani was named the ‘Best Telecom Leader,’ for his role in driving the transformation of Ooredoo and his contribution to the global communication industry, said the telecom operator in a statement.

Ooredoo won the “Best Innovative Service” honour for its Mobile Money services, which now support more than one million customers in Qatar, Indonesia and Tunisia, it stated.

Commenting on the honours, Dr Nasser Marafih, group CEO, said: “These awards are an important reflection of the range and diversity of services that Ooredoo provides to enrich the lives of people around the world.” - TradeArabia News Service
