STC launches advanced 4G network

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has partnered with top information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider Huawei to upgrade the current commercial 4th generation LTE TDD network to the advanced LTE-A network.

LTE-A network is characterized with an unprecedented download speeds, making it the fastest commercial 4th generation networks in the Middle East.

Huawei has been confirmed as a partner on the upgrade project, supporting the seamless integration of multiple generations of STC mobile broadband technology.

Senior deputy of STC Group for Technology & Operations Dr Khaled Albayari said the investments of Saudi Telecom in the advanced 4th generation LTE-A network aims to enrich the experience of the company's customers and strengthen its leadership in the Saudi market.

By working together with STC partners in the field of technology for the deployment and enhancement of the advanced 4th generation service in the local market, STC provides the best advantages to serve its clients.

"Moreover, launching the advanced 4th generation network will protect STC's investments in the existing network, and helps in providing a competitive mobile network for the company. Thanks to broadband services and new solutions that always meet the needs of the Saudi market." noted Albayari.

"Saudi Arabia is considered as the largest telecom market in the Middle East. Therefore, launching the first quad systems network in the world (GSM/ UMTS/ LTE TDD/ LTE FDD), and upgrading the network to the advanced 4th generation LTE-A, enhances the Internet service in the Kingdom significantly," he remarked.
