Du to provide wifi access in public areas

Dubai, March 5, 2014

UAE-based telecom operator du has unveiled ‘WiFi UAE,’ an initiative that provides access to wifi in public areas for all UAE residents.

The project, which takes effect with immediate effect, will start its implementation in Abu Dhabi and Dubai then gradually across the rest of the UAE, said a statement.

‘WiFi UAE’ is designed to help UAE residents harness the power of communication to stay connected with their near and dear ones, it said.

The residents and visitors to the UAE will be able to receive information and guidance on popular tourist landmarks, directions, and other places of interest.

Ahmad BinByat, chairman, said: “Today is a defining moment in the journey of the UAE’s Vision 2021 as we transform into a smart city.
