Ooredoo Kuwait appoints new CEO

Doha, June 24, 2014

Ooredoo Kuwait (Wataniya National Mobile Telecommunications Company) has appointed Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani as chief executive officer of the company.

He will succeed Abdulaziz Ibrahim Fakhroo, who has tendered his resignation from the position upon reaching the end of his term. Fakhroo will move to a new position within the Group and will serve as a member of the Board of Directors of Ooredoo Kuwait.

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani, chairman, Ooredoo said: “We thank Abdulaziz Fakhroo on the valuable contribution he has made during his tenure as chief executive officer of Ooredoo Kuwait, which was characterised by his perseverance, determination and hard work.  We look forward to benefiting from his experience in his new role in the Group and on the Board of Directors of Ooredoo Kuwait.”

“We also welcome Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani to the role of Chief Executive Officer and wish him every success as he joins us at an exciting stage for the company, which is seeing a number of vital new developments, not least the roll-out of the Ooredoo brand,” he added.

Sheikh Mohammed holds a master's degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Cardiff, Wales, UK, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Qatar University. Sheikh Mohammed previously worked in Ooredoo’s Finance Department as director of Financial Operations, and was subsequently promoted to senior director, Budget and Decision Support, and deputy chief officer, Finance. – TradeArabia News Service
