Etisalat rolls out new 4G Google tablet

ABU DHABI, January 17, 2015

UAE's leading telecom services operator Etisalat has announced the exclusive launch of the 4G-enabled Nexus 9 LTE by Google, the world’s first Android 5 Lollipop tablet, in the country.

It will available to customers on dedicated post-paid and prepaid plans, said a statement from Etisalat.

The Google Tablet has a 8.9” screen (1536 x 2048), with 8MP main camera and 1.6MP front facing, and is powered by 64-bit processor and dedicated BoomSound speakers to allow users to experience the best on their tablet when it comes to work or play.

The device will be available across all Etisalat business centres and key retail outlets in the UAE.

In response to the evolving tablet usage for data-specific needs, Etisalat has launched affordable tablet post-paid data bundles that offer customers flexible purchase options and ease of payment on a 12-month and 24-month contract basis, said the statement.

For as low as Dh200 ($54.4) per month, postpaid customers can get their hands on a free Nexus 9 tablet with a minimum 1GB data allowance. Customer can choose to upgrade their data plan with extra Dh100 or DhD200 per month for 5GB or 10GB respectively, it added.

Etisalat said the prepaid customers could also get a contract-free tablet-data bundle on an upfront payment basis with 1GB free data for the first month and Dh99 per month thereafter.

Khaled Elkhouly, the chief marketing officer, said: "Introducing specially-designed tablet data bundles falls in line with Etisalat’s commitment to expand its device and mobile data portfolio to meet the growing demand of its customers in the UAE."

"Nexus 9 by Google is an innovative device that will cater to the needs of the most demanding and tech-savvy customers, thanks to its powerful hardware and newest Android operating system, which is not available yet on any other tablet in the market, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
