UAE’s TRA hosts ICT workshop with Irish firms

ABU DHABI, April 23, 2015

The UAE’s General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA) staged an ICT Workshop today (April 23) at its Abu Dhabi headquarters with a delegation featuring 17 Irish ICT companies.

The Irish team was headed by Richard Bruton, the country’s Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.

The purpose of the workshop was to shed light on the prospects of joint investment opportunities for Irish companies in the UAE. Several heads of divisions attended the workshop from the TRA in addition to officials from UAE telecom operators.

“Ireland has a proven track record of successes in various technological fields and holds many successful companies within this sector,” Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, TRA director general, said in his welcoming speech.

“The UAE also has remarkable successes, and both countries have a unique opportunity to strengthen cooperation and partnership within the ICT sector. We welcome our guests and wish them every success in finding relevant opportunities in the UAE, especially at this time that is witnessing determined efforts in the field of Smart Government and Smart Cities,” he added.

“The economic significance of the ICT sector is globally recognized as increasing and so too is the UAE’s role in shaping innovation within it. The UAE is a gateway to ICT and telecommunications development in the region and it is promising that the Irish ICT companies present recognize the opportunity to work collaboratively with both the TRA and the UAE for a prosperous economic future through advanced technology,” Al Mansouri concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
