Etisalat, Ericsson extend tie-up in new areas

ABU DHABI, May 26, 2015

UAE-based telecom group Etisalat and networking leader Ericsson have extended a strategic partnership to extend collaboration in new areas and strengthen their market position as ICT partners of business.

A delegation of Etisalat Executive Management including the Group CEO Ahmed Abdulkarim Julfar recently met with Ericsson president and CEO Hans Vestberg, and Executive Management in Stockholm, Sweden.

The meeting also included president of Ericsson Region Middle East and East Africa Rafiah Ibrahim, and other executives from the region. The purpose of the strategic visit was to discuss industry trends, Ericsson’s vision of a Networked Society, and agree on strategic areas where the two companies could further strengthen their partnership.

As a result, Etisalat and Ericsson will jointly evaluate and identify enterprise opportunities for collaboration.

“As a leader in technological development, Etisalat is dedicated to innovation and our continued partnership with Ericsson enables us to extend our pioneering solutions to enterprises and industry,” said Julfar.

“We have taken further steps towards the digital revolution, and continue to update our infrastructure in light of the current transformation in ICT. We are excited to move towards a Networked Society in innovative ways, ensuring that we support enterprises and government in our operating countries to remain at the forefront of technology,” he added.

Vestberg said: “Our collaboration with Etisalat is another step towards fulfilling our Networked Society vision. Together, we are addressing key challenges in the region related to innovation, digital infrastructure, speed of deployment, and flexibility.
