ISIT, SNIA Europe team up to focus on storage, data centres

DUBAI, August 26, 2015

ISIT, a leading systems integrator of storage and information security solutions, and the Storage Networking Industry Association of Europe (SNIA Europe), an association of producers and consumers of storage networking products, have partnered to host and organise the latest edition of  ‘SNIA Middle East Academy.’

It will be held on September 3 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Dubai, UAE.

The event is expected to throw the spotlight on SNIA educational content covering timely storage and data centre topics - including the need for state-of-the-art storage technologies and security standards to help enhance and improve efforts in protecting critical data of companies in the region.

‘SNIA Middle East Academy is being sponsored by leading IT brands that include Dell, Netapp, Hitachi Data Systems, Symantec-Veritas, VEEAM and Purestorage, which are all members of SNIA Europe.

The industry experts have lauded the event as both timely and strategic following a recent report from the International Data Corporation (IDC) forecasting that the total value of the Internet of Things (IoT) market across the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMA) region will exceed $50 billion by the year 2018 - further predicting that over two billion autonomous objects or things will be connected to networks.

In line with this, experts have strongly recommended that companies in the region should start to prepare themselves for the explosion of data generated by IoT and the accompanying complexity of their storage needs once this happens.

Mahesh Vaidya, chief executive officer, ISIT and chairman of Middle East Committee, SNIA Europe, said: “The ‘SNIA Middle East Academy’ is a timely event that looks towards increasing both awareness and knowledge on the significant role that storage and data centres will play in the future.

“With the advent of IoT, Big Data and Cloud, traditional storage methods will not be able to keep pace with the growth in data and complexities in storage needs. Companies in the Middle East have to implement efforts in ensuring the correct storage strategies are in place—avoiding the risk of being overwhelmed with so much data in the future.”

The event will complement SNIA Europe’s efforts to advance the interests of the storage industry by empowering organisations to translate data and information into business value by promoting the adoption of enabling technologies and standards.

For the 'SNIA Middle East Academy,' participants will be able to take part and hear key lectures covering key topics like Software defined storage - Meaning and Value; Case for Flash Storage - How it can benefit your enterprise and Best practices for storage security.

Rami Dawoodi, regional director, ISIT, said: “For this first-of-a-kind event, we have created a unique platform for customers in the Middle East to meet and network with six leading Storage and Data Centre Technology vendors and professionals, We are confident that vendors will come together and present their views on emerging technologies during this activity." - TradeArabia News Service
