ROG Maximus breaks two world records

DUBAI, October 9, 2017

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced that the mighty ROG Maximus X Apex motherboard has broken two new world records and won nine global first places using the Intel Core i7-8700K processor.

With six cores and 12 threads, the Intel Core i7-8700K comes with a 3.7GHz base clock frequency, and tops out at 4.7GHz. Using liquid nitrogen to lower the CPU temperature to approximately -190C, German overclocker der8auer was able to save a CPU-Z validation with 7.3GHz on all six cores with hyper-threading enabled.

Using G.SKILL memory, overclocker Hocayu set a new DDR4 memory frequency world record, clocking in at an impressive 5529.2MHz. “The ASUS ROG Maximum X Apex motherboard is truly the best Z370 motherboard for memory overclocking,” said Tequila Huang, VP of R&D at G.SKILL.

“G.SKILL is glad to work with the ASUS ROG team to achieve such an incredible world record, as well as to announce the world’s fastest DDR4-4600 2x8GB memory kit of this generation on this amazing motherboard.”

An additional world record was set for the 3DMark06 benchmark, by Italian overclocker Rsannino. The combination of a ROG Strix GTX 1080 Ti graphics card and an i7-8700K CPU overclocked to 7.010GHz were used to land an overall score of 73519 marks.

The nine global first places were set in popular 2D benchmarks, including CINEBENCH R11.5, Cinebench R15, Geekbench3 multi, GPUPI for CPU – 1B, X265 in 1080p and 4K as well as XTU, wPrime 32M and 1024M.
