Malek Sultan Al Malek elected new EITC Chairman

DUBAI, October 7, 2021

The Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC) Board of Directors has unanimously elected current Board Member Malek Sultan Al Malek as the new chairman of the Board of Directors with immediate effect.
 
Al Malek replaces Mohamed Bin Hadi Al Hussaini. Abdulla Khalifa Abdulla Humaid Belhoul was also appointed as a new director.
 
EITC, founded in 2005, is the UAE’s second licensed telecommunications operator and operates under two brands: du (launched in 2007) and Virgin Mobile, the region’s first digital service (started operations in September 2017). 
 
“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all board members, management, and the entire team at EITC for their continuous support throughout my tenure,” said Al Hussaini. “Last year was a particular testament to the EITC’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities and prove itself to be resilient in even the most trying of circumstances. It has been a pleasure and privilege working at EITC and I am proud of it is achievements, and confident that the organisation will continue to be a key contributor to the UAE, its National Agenda, and its people under the stewardship of Malek Sultan Al Malek.”
 
Al Malek is one of the leading business figures in the UAE, and holds key economic and cultural positions in the UAE including as the CEO of Dubai Holding Asset Management. He also holds the position of Director General of the Dubai Development Authority, affiliated to the Government of Dubai, which contributes to enhancing the emirate's competitiveness and consolidating its position as a global hub for talent and business. 
 
Al Malek also serves on the boards of several institutions in the UAE, including the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, the Higher Colleges of Technology, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Library.
