DAFZ invites UK firms to invest in GCC states

Dubai, April 7, 2009

Dubai Airport Free Zone has invited top UK companies to explore opportunities in the GCC.

'British companies facing difficulties in the current economic crisis should explore opportunities in the GCC and Middle East,' said Dubai Airport Free Zone director general Dr Mohammed Al Zarouni.

He was speaking as British Embassy consul general Guy Warrington visited the Free Zone, according to a report in our sister newspaper Gulf Daily News.

Dr Al Zarouni said the number of UK operating from the Dubai Airport Free Zone has increased to 125.

'There is a real opportunity for big companies in the UK to come and establish a presence in the region where a consumer base of more than a billion people could be tapped.'

Warrington hailed the infrastructure and facilities at the zone and the benefits it offers to investors such as tax free income, repatriation of capital and 100 per cent ownership of businesses.

Dr Al Zarouni said that the rules at the Zone are transparent with the management offering a one-stop solution for those setting up offices.

'Over the past 12 years Dubai Airport Free Zone has grown into one of the most successful economic ventures in the Gulf region. It is now home to 1,500 multinational companies with flexible operations processes that meet client's demand,' said Dr Al Zarouni.

To meet growing demand and broaden its base, Dubai Airport Free Zone has embarked on an expansion plan which began last year.
