Bahrain observes 'Day of Mourning'

Manama, February 25, 2011

The Kingdom of Bahrain on Friday observed an official day of mourning for the victims of last week's violence.

A government spokeswoman on Thursday said the decision was taken to remember seven people killed as a result of clashes between protesters and police.

Mohammed Redha, 33, became the seventh victim on Monday when he died after being shot in the head last Friday.

Four died when police evicted protesters camped out at Pearl Roundabout on February 17, in an operation that resulted in heavy casualties on both sides. They were identified as Mahmoud Makki Ali, 22, Ali Mansour Ahmad Khoder, 52, Issa Abdul Hassan, 60, and Hussain Zaid.

Fadhel Salman Matrook was killed on February 15 as crowds gathered to mourn the death of the first protester, Ali Abdulhadi Mushaima, killed on February 14.-TradeArabia News Service
