UK minister slams Iran meddling in Bahrain
Kuwait, June 4, 2013
Britain's top minister for the Middle East has slammed Iran's continued interference in Bahrain, calling on Iran "not to poke its nose" into the domestic affairs of the region's countries.
Alistair Burt, UK Foreign Minister for the Mena, also reiterated his country's support for Bahrain's efforts to encourage National Dialogue to overcome obstacles and reach a political solution, according to a report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
"This is purely a Bahraini issue and no foreign party has the right to interfere. We don't encourage any solution from outside the kingdom," said Burt at a Press conference with Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary Khalid Al Jarallah.
Kuwait also affirmed its rejection of any interference by Iran or any other country in Bahrain's internal affairs.
"We categorically reject any interference by Iran or any other country, and we totally support Bahrain in face of any threat or interference," said the Kuwaiti official. "The security of Bahrain is linked to that of Kuwait, and the security of all GCC member countries is the same." – TradeArabia News Service
