Bahrain’s anti-narcotics squad has seized raw heroin estimated to be worth BD2 million ($5.28 million) in one of the largest drug hauls this year.

The squad has arrested 23 members of the drug-smuggling gang, the crime detection and forensic science general director was quoted as saying in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

Police raided the gang's house in Muharraq following a tip-off and seized 2kg raw heroin and heroin-saturated clothes.

The seized items also included a quantity of narcotic pills as well as tools used by the gang in their operations.

Police investigations have revealed that the gang had transferred BD775,000 from their drug-trafficking proceeds.
