Terrorist activity in region 'alarming'

Escalating terrorist activity in the region was the focus of a crucial meeting of senior GCC officials in Bahrain.

Bahrain's Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa highlighted the alarming shifts in security and terror threats as he received under-secretaries of the GCC interior ministries, who converged on Manama for the extraordinary meeting, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The minister stressed the importance of co-operating and exchanging intelligence information to protect the region.

Public Security chief Major General Tariq Al Hassan briefed the GCC officials about the security situation in Bahrain and toured with them an exhibition showcasing the confiscated weapons, ammunition and explosives, which terrorists use against policemen. - TradeArabia News Service
