Unified GCC alone 'should deal with Iran'

Manama, May 31, 2014

A Saudi political analyst has warned GCC member states against dealing individually with Iran, said a report in our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.

Mehanna Al Hubail urged GCC countries to draw up a unified strategy in dealing with the Islamic republic, warning that any individual approach or overture would ensure Tehran regime a major breakthrough.

Addressing a meeting hosted by the National Unity Assembly in Busaiteen, he said that a unified GCC would have more leverage to defend itself against any threats or challenges.

He also called on the GCC countries to strengthen relations with Turkey as an alternative bulwark against Iran. He stressed the importance of launching a national dialogue engaging the two sects, warning against the dangerous pitfalls of the regional sectarian-tainted crisis.-TrradeArabia News Service
