Bahrain tops UN survey on e-governance

Bahrain has been named first among all Arab nations in this year's United Nations (UN) e-Government Readiness Survey.
The country has also been, for the third consecutive time, named among the top eight countries on the global government Web Index, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
According to Bahrain e-Government Authority chief executive Mohammed Al Qaed, the UN report is considered as the only report globally that evaluates the readiness of all 193 UN member states.
Transportation Minister and Economic Development Board acting chief executive Kamal Ahmed lauded the positive results achieved by Bahrain in the survey.
At the UN Public Service Conference 2014 held in Korea, Ahmed said that Bahrain was ranked 18 globally in the e-Government index, before many European and Asian countries.
The minister thanked Bahrain's leadership for exploiting potential that adds to the nation's rich record of achievements.
He marked his gratitude in particular to Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, chairmed by Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
He also lauded efforts of the committees in charge of following-up on the development of e-Government readiness, including the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the Central Informatics Organisation and the Ministry of Education. - TradeArabia News Service
