Dubai show to highlight ‘luxury’ facet of India

DUBAI, December 1, 2014

India’s fastest-growing luxury segments encompassing travel, hospitality, wellness, healthcare, education, fashion and lifestyle domains are set to showcase at an exclusive trade show in Dubai this week.

The second edition of Royal India Luxury Show will take place on December 4 and 5 at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. It is being organised by Globuzz, a Dubai-based luxury consultant.

Tourists are changing their consumption habits and seeking out new destinations for unique experiences and luxury, according to a  World Luxury Goods Market study.

The 21st century India is full of luxury experiences. India’s rich history is replete with opulence and grandeur and for centuries it has been a preferred destination to revitalise and rejuvenate the body and soul. India offers a diverse portfolio of unique and memorable experiences, it said.

Emiratis and other Arabs have comparatively very little exposure about the India’s luxury element.

Most are aware about India being the Land of Grandeur, but did not have better opportunities to learn about the luxury experiences that awaits them. India offers tourists unique experiences with its natural beauty, vivid festivals, exotic beaches and architectural marvels, said the study.

T P Seetharam, Indian Ambassador to UAE, said India’s economic, trade and cultural links with the Arab world in general and the UAE in particular dates back to more than a century ago due to enhanced people-to-people contact.

“The Arab world constitutes an integral part of India’s extended neighbourhood and is a region of critical importance in political, strategic, security and economic terms.  I believe such a show endorses our vision to showcase India as a world-class platform in areas of tourism, travel, hospitality, technology, healthcare, wellness and education. There is a great scope for promoting Indian luxury portfolio in the Arab region through the UAE market,” he said.

“Royal India Luxury Show 2014, we hope, will create conducive environment that further enhances the luxury offering from India at a global marketplace. The decision of Government of India to relax visa rules for nationals of various countries is expected to give a boost to the number of visitors to India and luxury is one of the domains that will benefit from the new decision,” said Seetharam.

Paras Shahdadpuri, chairman of Nikai Group and president of Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC), said such an exclusive show would go a long way towards marketing, promoting and branding India’s portfolio of luxury products and services.

“India should not only intensify its marketing and promotional efforts, but the Indian luxury market stakeholders should also take measures to maintain credibility all along having the visibility in the right places. In today’s business environment, it was not just enough to have a good luxury product or service, but also these need to be marketed, branded and promoted well to the wider world audiences.”

“The UAE-India bilateral trade accounts for over US$65 billion and the UAE offers immense growth opportunities for Indian businesses which needs to be channelized and tapped by the luxury market players.   India’s luxury segment needs to be marketed to the world in an aggressive manner and Royal India-2014 need to be appreciated. This show perfectly supports the initiative to market and promote India as a luxury destination in all its totality.” he said.

Gayathri Elayath Bhardwaj, chief event organiser, Globuzz, said: “Based on the success of the inaugural show, Royal India Luxury Show-2014 has been fine-tuned and we have given it a more result-oriented approach in engaging a premium, unique group in a people-to-people format in meeting their needs and expectations about the luxury and class out of India. This show will truly fulfill their aspirations.”

The highlights of this year events will be a charity fashion show and a grand dinner reception. - TradeArabia News Service
