Al Darwish ... products strengthen the family unit

Happy Box spreads cheer in GCC

DUBAI, February 29, 2016

The Happy Box, an award-winning educational and social enterprise offering monthly activity box that is delivered right to doorsteps of customers, has recently expanded into the GCC.

"We take great pride in offering products that are designed to strengthen the family unit, assist in the development of a child's cognitive and motor skills and ultimately spread happiness," says Jumana Al Darwish, co-founder and happiness officer of The Happy Box.

Within the box are eight activities surrounding a specific theme – which changes each month. The activities are customised for the child’s age and gender, and are educational yet fun in nature and to motivate parents to spend quality time with their children to complete the activities. The boxes cater to children between the ages of 3 and 11.

All the materials required to complete the activities are included and instructions are available in both English and Arabic. Activities are designed by our educationalists and aid in the development of a child’s cognitive and motor skills.

As well as the monthly boxes for children, The Happy Box has boxes for grown ups too. Teaming up exclusively with London-based Lucky Dip Club, it has created a box full of surprises to inspire and encourage grown-ups to celebrate life.

The brand launched The Happy Heart Giving programme, which is the social responsibility arm of The Happy Box, in August 2015. For every Happy Box purchased, The Happy Box donates a box to a child in need. With the support of the community, The Happy Box has distributed thousands of boxes to children in India, Nepal and Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan. Giving back is ingrained in the modus operandi of The Happy Box, with hopes of reaching many more underprivileged children around the world, says Al Darwish.

The boxes are currently available for sale online via the company's website (www.thehappybox.ae), its stockists (S*uce, Sharjah Ladies Club, The Baby Boutique and Babysouk.com) and they are also delivered via Aramex across the UAE and internationally.

"The concept has been well received within the UAE and globally. We currently have 25 franchise requests. We are very fortunate to have an extensive client base from an array of backgrounds and various markets. We have been witnessing a sharp increase in orders for monthly deliveries both in the UAE and regionally in the past six months," says Al Darwish.

The company plans to appoint representatives in the GCC over the next four to six months who share a similar profile and passion to the founders of this company. "They will be furthering our mandate in their territories. We've spent the past year studying neighbouring markets, refining our internal and external operations and ensuring all logistical measures are in place to allow for global expansion," continues Al Darwish.

The target audience of the brand is the community at large and that’s why it has been such a huge success so far. It's a simple business model, with so many underlying positive attributes, she says.

"We have mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunties, uncles, older siblings and friends who buy our products in order to gift them to that special little one. When we first introduced The Happy Box, we spent between 6-8 months on road shows across the UAE, meeting our target clientele, briefing them about our products and their underlying benefits. We host numerous events and partner with powerful local and international brands granting us further outreach and exposure," adds Al Darwish. - TradeArabia News Service
