Dubai Watch Week to see largest coordinated watch launch

DUBAI, November 8, 2016

Dubai Watch Week (DWW) 2016, a global event dedicated to the craftsmanship and innovation in the watch industry, will host the Middle East’s most diverse series of brand launches and key moments in horological time from November 15 to 19.

Being held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice chairman of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, the Dubai Watch Week is organised by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, a leading retailer of luxury watches in the Middle East.

In its second edition, DWW welcomes the newest addition to its programme -- the Creative Hub, a platform where brands will launch limited edition pieces, or timepieces designed specifically for Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, alongside new collections coming to the region, all to be unveiled during Dubai Watch Week 2016.

Recent additions to the Seddiqi portfolio will also be presented: Ferdinand Berthoud, the developer of marine chronometers; the avant-garde innovator of Haute Horology, Emmanuel Bouchet; and the Dutch master of astronomical watches, Christian Van der Klaauw.

Taking place in the Grand Atrium, The Dubai Mall, over 100 museum pieces will be on display in the region’s largest watch exhibition to date. The Mastery of Time, curated by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), is designed to educate visitors on the story behind significant historical timepieces and their role within the timeline of each brand. The Mastery of Time is a fascinating retrospective display of significant timepieces through the ages from a historical or scientific point of view.

More than 25 brands are participating in the event across the week. The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) will present their winning watches at the Ayyam Gallery, the annual travelling exhibition enabling DWW attendees to discover the competition’s prize-winning model, and the Horological Movements exhibition, focusing on watch movements and complications.
