The CT4 sedan

Cadillac’s CT4 and CT5 sedans bring rear-wheel drive thrills

DUBAI, October 7, 2020

The all-new Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans have been launched, both of which are based on Cadillac’s award-winning rear-wheel drive (RWD) architecture.

There has been a long-standing debate amongst motoring enthusiasts about what is better when it comes to driving enjoyment, a front-wheel drive (FWD), all-wheel drive (AWD) or rear-wheel drive (RWD)? Undeniably, all of them have their benefits, however, for a keen driver, RWD is the way to go and here is why.

RWD vehicles provide the perfect balance between the AWD and FWD configurations. The engine delivers power to the rear wheels, while the front wheels manage the steering – think of it as a tag-team to deliver maximum driving pleasure.

The latter has been honed even further to create vehicles that deliver the right amount of power thanks to their leading-edge 2.0L engine that develops 237hp and 349 Nm of torque from just 1500 rpm for the CT4 and a more potent 2.7L engine that delivers up to 310hp and 474 Nm of torque from 1500 rpm in the CT5. The performance is effortless.

This dynamic excellence of RWD performance is also signalled in the exterior design. The hood is long, while the rear haunches reflect the fact that power goes to the back wheels. They also have near perfect front to rear weight distribution.

Further standout points of both sedans are that they use a range of technologies to ensure an exciting driving experience in a luxury car. For instance, they boast a rigid body structure that enables the CT4 and CT5 to handle higher g-forces as the driver navigates corners. Speaking of which, the new electric power steering has also been fine-tuned to ensure immediate response and optimal feedback.

To ensure that the power is transmitted to the ground in a safe manner, and to enable dynamic balance, both sedans have a premium chassis and suspension system. In fact, the CT4 and CT5 use Cadillac’s fourth-generation Magnetic Ride Control suspension, which reads the road and driving conditions constantly and can manage damping while in motion, thereby delivering a more secure and enjoyable experience.

That said, any driving enthusiast knows that braking is equally important as acceleration in a performance sedan, and both models deliver amply on that front. To rein in the power, they come equipped with a high-performance braking system that ensures safety and faster lap times, should one be on a track.

As engaging RWD vehicles, both the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 also offer several other features such as mechanical limited-slip rear differential and performance traction management to
maximise driving pleasure. Furthermore, drivers have the option to personalise their vehicle’s performance through the new V-Mode. Want less intrusive traction control? Sure. Want to enhance steering response? Done. It enables owners to set up their CT4 and CT5 to their liking and driving style, while enjoying its RWD performance.

The Cadillac CT4 and CT5 are two of the most exciting compact sedans in their class that appeal to the keen drivers. And, with their roster of modern technologies they are bringing fun back in driving. Both models are available across dealerships in the Middle East. -- Tradearabia News Service
