The new Lincoln Navigator

New Lincoln Navigator offers unique, intuitive driving

DUBAI, October 6, 2022

The new Lincoln Navigator brings a range of unique, intuitive technologies to the Middle East, accentuating safety, comfort, entertainment and the driving experience of drivers and passengers.

Already one of the region’s most popular large SUVs, the latest Navigator packs in a suite of advanced technologies that make the driving experience both safer and smoother. Lincoln Co-Pilot360, as its name suggests, is always switched on, scanning the road to make drives easy, whatever the time of day.

Adaptive Suspension with Road Preview is the Navigator’s newest addition to Co-Pilot360 – 12 sensors, including a forward-facing camera, scan body movements, vehicle motion, steering, acceleration, and braking 500 times per second and automatically prompt adjustments up to 100 times a second to mitigate unpleasant impacts. Other standard features include Intersection Assist, which uses camera and radar to alert a driver attempting a left turn of incoming traffic and applies the brakes automatically.

Co-Pilot360
Coming as a standard in the new Lincoln Navigator, Co-Pilot360 comes with Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. As one drives, the Navigator uses built-in cameras and radar to continually scan the road ahead for pedestrians or vehicles, warning one of a potential collision and automatically applying the brakes – lowering the risk and severity of potential accidents. Sensors on the Navigator’s front, sides, and rear, as well as a 360-degree camera, means parking this large SUV is faster and safer than one might think.

Another impressive example of the Co-Pilot360 scanning systems can be seen in the Blind Spot Information System and Cross-Traffic Alert, which not only recognizes and alerts one to vehicle’s entering the Navigator’s blind spot but also detects traffic approaching from either side of the SUV when one is reversing out of a parking spot – as well as braking when it detects a person or object stepping into one’s direction of travel.

The Lane-Keeping System is a collection of features: Lane-Keeping Alert, Lane-Keeping Aid, and Driver Alert System. The system alerts the driver, based on the mode selected, when the vehicle unintentionally starts to drift from its intended lane, and can provide steering assistance to help the driver bring the vehicle back into the traveling lane if needed. Meanwhile, Evasive Steering Assist aids the driver in avoiding a collision with a slower or stopped vehicle ahead by providing a boost to the steering – this allows the driver to steer with less effort when the collision cannot be avoided by braking alone.

Smart systems
The Navigator’s smart systems also extend to the headlights, with Auto High Beams automatically brightening and dimming when they detect another vehicle, rain, or fog.

There are several optional additional features, most notably Adaptive Cruise Control With Stop-And-Go, which makes life significantly more relaxed for those morning and evening rush-hour rides by allowing one to set the speed and distance one’d like the Navigator to maintain. Meanwhile, Collision Warning with Brake Support will alert one with a warning chime and light if it senses an imminent collision, and Brake Assist adding sensitivity to the brakes to increase responsiveness.

Moving inside, the new Navigator’s interior is packed with technologies that prioritize a seamless, connected, and personalised experience for driver and passengers.

Ford’s SYNC4
Foremost of these is Ford’s SYNC4 infotainment system, which can recognize individual voices for hands-free control of an enhanced navigation operating system for making calls, requesting one’s favourite songs, and more via a new, larger 13.2-inch centre screen.

A digital owner’s manual with a key word-driven search function makes it easier than ever to find the information one needs about one’s Navigator and its features, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto give access to Apple Music, Siri (for sending and receiving text messages), Google Maps, and Google Assistant.

Meanwhile, drivers have the freedom to configure a reimagined 12-inch heads-up display with the information they want, without needing to take their eyes off the road.

Sanctuary-like luxury
While driver and passenger at the front can enjoy unmatched comfort offered by the 30-way Perfect Position seats – which offer an upgraded massage system controllable via the touchscreen – those in the backseat also get to enjoy the Navigator’s sanctuary-like luxury; a brand-new 5.8-inch digital module gives second-row passengers control over their seat positioning, climate adjustment, and audio settings. Additionally, those in the back can stay cool with seat ventilation, which comes standard, while the available massage seats extends ultimate comfort – a first for this segment.

Whether it’s seat position, climate preferences, audio settings, or driver-assist features, the new Navigator is capable of remembering the individual profile of different drivers – useful for families sharing Navigator driving duties.

To raise the luxury quotient further, Lincoln partnered with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) to provide a calming aural atmosphere in the new Navigator. The DSO, which has been playing in Detroit for more than 130 years, recorded six unique symphonic chimes for the Navigator. These chimes play in place of standard electronic alerts to inform drivers of everything from unbuckled seatbelts to an open fuel hatch.

Award-winning acoustics
These chimes come through the award-winning acoustics of the Revel Ultima 3D audio system – 28 speakers that envelop occupants with rich, precise, and multidimensional sound in a truly 360-degree listening experience that has been likened to a concert hall.

While stunning design, rich audio, and unmatched comfort are at the heart of the new Navigator, so too is the driving experience – and with a highly responsive powertrain complemented by remarkable handling, Lincoln’s flagship SUV delivers in spades. Under the hood, an advanced 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine offers an impressive 440 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque.

The new, segment-leader, Lincoln Navigator is available for test drives in the KSA showrooms now, where one can witness for oneself the luxury SUV’s unique regional premium touches, progressive design and intuitive technologies.-- TradeArabia News Service
