Rotana, News Corp in Fox Movies deal
Riyadh

A strategic alliance between Rotana Audiovisual and News Corporation will bring Fox Movies to the Arab World.

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Rotana Audiovisual, and Rupert Murdoch, CEO of News Corporation signed the deal in the presence of James Murdoch, chairman and CEO, Europe and Asia, News Corporation.

“We, as Rotana Group, feel that we could not have chosen a better partner than this global media group towards our first step to bring Western entertainment through our channels…this partnership is based not only on my long and personal relationship with Mr Rupert Murdoch, but it is also based on the similarities and synergies between our two media companies,” said Prince Alwaleed.

Fox Movies, the new free-to-air English movie channel will go on-air from May 1, 2008.

Movie lovers across the Middle East will now be able to switch over to world class movie entertainment with the launch of Fox Movies, said a statement.

“Given its inherent connection to Hollywood through 20th Century Fox Studios, Fox Movies will undoubtedly present a line-up of movies, current as well as legendary, that are a must-watch for the movie aficionado,” the statement said.

In addition, Fox Movies will air commercial-free uninterrupted movies and interactive viewing choices. Movies Uninterrupted gives viewers a chance to watch an entire movie, without being interrupted by advertisements or other breaks in the film whereas, ‘Fox Movies Select’ will allow viewers to text in their preferred choice from a list of movies for that evening’s entertainment, the statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
