Adnec offers to buy ExCeL London
Abu Dhabi

ADCG, the UK division of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec), has submitted an offer to buy ExCeL London.

The offer for the world-renowned ExCeL, the UK capital’s largest exhibition and conference venue, has been prompted by Abu Dhabi’s strategy of securing economic diversification with the international exhibitions and conference industry a key investment target, the company said in a statement.

Abu Dhabi is positioning itself as leader on the global exhibition and conference landscape and sees the industry as a means of attracting fresh investment, events and talent to the UAE capital.

The potential acquisition is also being positioned as a serious commitment to London, the UK and the international exhibition industry, it added.

Adnec's strategy is to create a worldwide network of leading conference and exhibition venues.

ExCeL London, which occupies a prime site in London’s Docklands area and is home to the London Boat Show and the British International Motor Show, will act as a cornerstone for the development of a blue-chip brand, utilising the existing expertise and reputation of both ExCeL London and Adnec.

Adnec intends to create common operation and policy standards for its venue users worldwide.

The company has formed good relationships with major conference and exhibition organisers who have expressed support for the strategy going forward.  Adnec would also consider expanding ExCeL London to enhance its ability to compete for, and stage, additional and larger events.  – TradeArabia News Service
