Emaar signs 'Burj Dubai Opus' deal
Dubai

Emaar Properties has signed an exclusive publishing contract with Kraken Opus, a leading publisher recognised for luxury publications on epic subjects in an epic scale, to create the Burj Dubai Opus, a definitive account charting the creation of the iconic tower.

'The Burj Dubai Opus' will showcase the various facets of developing the world’s tallest building and will feature exclusive content and never-before-seen photography.

The publication contract, in addition to one luxurious signature book, will include a limited collection of different formats including specialised versions and collector’s editions, said a company official.

A select set of publications will be auctioned for charity. The flagship book will be housed within Burj Dubai for public display following the opening of the tower in 2009.

Mohamed Ali Alabbar, chairman, Emaar Properties, said: “Burj Dubai is a singular project that illustrates the success of collective human endeavour. A project of Burj Dubai’s size and scale happens once in a lifetime, and we are showcasing the making of Burj Dubai and its various features with a limited edition collection of Burj Dubai Opuses.”

He added: “Kraken Opus has made a mark globally for publishing exclusive books on monumental achievements and inspiring personalities. Through the partnership with Kraken Opus, we are creating a definitive and truly exclusive account of the making of Burj Dubai – the radical thinking associated with the project, the manpower and material involved, and the various challenges that were overcome in developing the tower.”

Karl Fowler, founder and CEO of Kraken Opus, said the Emaar project was especially exciting for Kraken as it was the company’s first venture into the field of architecture and the Middle East, and also an opportunity to work with the 'most ambitious developer' on the planet.

'Aside from producing an Opus that will do justice to Emaar's vision, Kraken hopes that this project will be the beginning of a long association with Emaar and the United Arab Emirates,' he added

Paul Murphy, commercial director of Kraken Opus, said, 'The UAE is a natural base for a young, ambitious company such as ours, looking to work with similarly ambitious partners and there could be no better way to launch our company in the region than announcing this wonderful project with Emaar’s Burj Dubai.'

Kraken Opus’s previous successes include the highly acclaimed Opuses for the NFL, Manchester United, Arsenal and Vivienne Westwood. Other Opuses due for release over the next 12 months will include Disney, Formula One, Sachin Tendulkar, Maradona and Celtic.

More than 70 per cent of the Burj Dubai Opus is exclusive content, including photographs, interviews and behind the scenes information all contained in a giant tome of mesmerising cinematic quality.

Burj Dubai currently stands at an awe-striking 700 metres and is the heart of Emaar’s flagship project – Downtown Burj Dubai. An architectural accomplishment and a testimony of human achievement, Burj Dubai’s development ethos is unparalleled.-TradeArabia News Service
