Broadcasting event to discuss digital boom
Dubai

Jamal Al Sharif

Opportunities within high quality digital broadcasting services will be the focus of a conference taking place alongside an upcoming international satellite communication and digital media event.

The Cabsat Mena 2010 Broadcasting Conference will run alongside Cabsat Mena 2010, taking place at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 2 to 4.

“With the economic recovery in sight, the Middle East broadcasting industry is now looking at new technologies to drive the move to a fully-integrated digital broadcasting platform,” said Jamal Al Sharif, executive director, Dubai Studio City.

“The Middle East is embracing the move to enhanced digital broadcasting, which will ultimately produce savings for broadcasters in terms of reduced operational costs and make services more competitive by enhancing the consumer experience,” he added.

The topics discussed will offer delegates high-level information and real-life experiences in digital HDTV, enhanced digital radio and file based production, both from within the MENA region and from other parts of the world, a statement said.

The tracks provide an insight into the Mena digital media industry and equip companies with the tools needed to capitalise on the huge growth potential in the region.

Running alongside the Cabsat Mena exhibition is Satellite Mena, the definitive international satellite event for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

Satellite Mena also provides a dedicated knowledge exchange platform through this year’s GVF Menasat Summit 2010, entitled ‘The Mena Communications Knowledge Exchange: Development Dynamics in the Broadband Satellite & Hybrid Wireless Applications Market’.

The summit will bring together leading companies to identify and discuss the development of new opportunities in satellite and satellite-hybrid services and technologies.

Nearly 700 exhibitors will be participating at this year’s Cabsat Mena and Satellite Mena from more than 50 countries around the world, the statement said.

“Cabsat Mena and Satellite Mena are the bellwether industry exhibitions for digital media and satellite communications throughout the Mena region and companies come from all over the world to discover the latest technology and discuss future trends,” said David Roberts, industry group manager, Dubai World Trade Centre.

“The Broadcasting Conference and GVF Menasat Summit are much-anticipated events that will provide a dedicated knowledge exchange environment to help companies expand and break into buoyant Mena market,” Roberts added. – TradeArabia News Service
