Bahrain e-govt award deadline extended

Manama, February 16, 2012

The registration deadline for Bahrain’s eGovernment Excellence Award 2012 has been extended till February 20, a statement said.

The extension is in response to the demand of potential participants and in a bid to allow for the maximum number of applications, said eGA Marketing and Awareness Directorate assistant director Mohammad Ziad Asfour.

The award, in its fifth year, is organized under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT).

The jury will review each work independently, ensure its effectiveness and applicability in line with the international standards as the objective of the award is to raise the quality and efficiency of government services offered to Bahrain’s citizens and residents, said Asfour.

Asfour urged all citizens and employees of the public and private sectors along with NGOs to take this opportunity and register before the new deadline ends.

Winners will be honoured on the opening ceremony of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2012, on April 9. The event will be attended by several international speakers.

There will be 11 awards, divided into three categories: Government Category; Multi-Sector Category, and the Citizens Category.

The Government category consists of six awards (Best eContent, Best eService, Best eMaturity, Best eProject, eEconomy and eEducation Award); the Multi-sector category contains four awards (Best ICT Solutions Provider, eEconomy, eEducation and eNGO), and finally the Citizens category consisting of eCitizen and Best eConcept award.  – TradeArabia News Service
