Nawras, a leading telecom provider in Oman, is inviting Instagram users across the Sultanate to submit their pictures and interpretations of Oman for its first Instagram Exhibition.

“There are many Instagram competitions in the Sultanate, but Nawras is proud to be the first to organise an Instagram Exhibition that will showcase the talent we have in Oman,” said Nawras social media and media manager Hashar Al Mandhary.

“The aim of the exhibition is to bring the virtual world of social media to the classic world of photography and print. We wanted to highlight the beauty and culture of Oman by encouraging the new generation of photographers to unleash their creativity and eye for detail. The exhibition will also be an opportunity for these young talented individuals to meet fellow photographers and share their experiences in a real art gallery type atmosphere.”

Competition entries will be judged by an independent panel of professional photographers who will select the best 43 pictures to be showcased during the exhibition.

The judges will then select the top six pictures, which will receive prizes starting from a Canon 5D Mark III professional camera as the first prize, to iPhone 5S’s and a selection of other exciting prizes for the other winners.

The Instagram App, which can be used on any android or iphone, can be downloaded from the Apple App Store free of charge. Launched in October 2010, Instagram surged in popularity during 2012 and this year has seen a continuation of the number of new followers, with over 50 million photos uploaded daily worldwide.
