New ‘Pointless’ multi-series deal signed

London, February 13, 2014

Endemol UK, a leading independent production company, said BBC One has commissioned 204 brand new episodes of popular game show ‘Pointless.’

The deal will see Remarkable Television produce series 11, 12 and 13 for BBC Daytime along with 24 new episodes of the Saturday night ratings winner ‘Pointless Celebrities,’ said a statement.

James Fox, head of Entertainment at Remarkable Television, said: “We’re extremely proud of the success of Pointless, which has become a juggernaut hit for BBC One in the hands of our much-loved hosts Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman.”

“In the upcoming episodes, viewers can expect many more obscure facts as well as a host of surprises, including Alexander and Richard’s attempt at creating the 2014 UK entry to the Eurovision Song Contest,” he said.

This latest Pointless deal follows last year’s announcement that Endemol will create and publish an app based on the series. The app is due to launch this month and will feature a one player mode as well as a versus friends mode.

Every question on Pointless had been asked to a panel of 100 people before the show, to find out the most obvious and the most obscure answers. Four pairs of contestants competed for a cash prize by finding the least obvious answers and scoring the fewest points. - TradeArabia News Service
