Top international book fair opens in Bahrain

The Bahrain International Book Fair opened yesterday at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Sanabis.

It is part of this year's Spring of Culture line-up and was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

 It was opened by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa.

The exhibition, which will run until April 6, houses thousands of books on various topics from more than 300 publishing houses.

During the exhibition, the Culture Ministry will also present writers to the public and allow them to present their various publications.

Bahraini poet Qassim Haddad will give a reading tonight at 8pm, as well as various other poets and authors.

The expo is open daily from 9am to 1pm and 4.30pm to 9.30pm, but on Fridays it is open from 4pm to 10pm.-TradeArabia News Service
