Bonn, Germany, April 8, 2014
Abu Dhabi Media has adopted Deutsche Telekom International Wholesale Business Unit’s LiveStream Perform, powered by Octoshape, for its global streaming and multiscreen distribution needs.
DT BDI’s cloud-based video streaming solution was selected by the company for the live streaming and delivery of six TV channels to connect multiple devices for its global customer base, said a statement.
The sports, news and drama based content from admedia.ae will be available on multiple screens – PC, mobile devices and Abu Dhabi Media applications.
Abu Dhabi Media will leverage LiveStream Perform’s acceleration technologies for both live and on-demand streaming of content from the channels AD Sport 1 HD, AD Sport 2 HD, AD Sport Extra HD, AD Al Oula HD, AD Al Emarat HD and AD Drama SD.
Ali Al Shaiba, director of Digital Media, said: “In order to reach top customer satisfaction, we work with our Tier 1 content providers to position their content in the best way possible for our subscriber base.”
“After an extensive review wherein we assessed every technology available, we concluded that only the LiveStream Perform solution from Deutsche Telekom BDI was able to consistently meet all of the requirements we had for quality, user-interface and predictable flat-rate pricing models.”
The solution set includes IP contribution and distribution services to multiscreen devices coupled with satellite downlink for channel acquisition, geoblocking for rights management control and token and domain authentication services to secure the rich media and proprietary content.
The channels will also be encoded for adaptive bit rate and multi-device support and content will be recorded for VOD.
LiveStream Perform provides a differentiated platform that enables the evolution of broadcast TV into global, cloud-based broadband TV.
The patented stream acceleration system combined with the suite of multicast technologies offers TV quality and a cost-effective commercial model for operators, OTT/IPTV service providers, and premium content owners, enabling them to reach millions of device-connected subscribers worldwide. - TradeArabia News Service
