First season of Bahraini show to start shoot

Manama, April 17, 2014

A film company is gearing up to shoot the first season of a Bahraini show described as "Shahs of Sunset" meets "Real Housewives".

Blending in with the Bahrainis (BIWB) will showcase the lives of six intelligent, strong and opinionated women living here and the inevitable drama that goes along with it, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Produced by local company Jeo Productions, it has been created for an international audience with the aim of highlighting the positive and powerful aspects of women living in the Middle East and the reality of daily life.

"The show has been picked up by Bahrain TV," said Jeo Productions chief executive officer and director Joseph Tito.

"We have already shot the pilot episode and showed it to them and they were very keen to run the show after Ramadan when most of the expats have come back on Bahrain 55 (the English channel).

"It has been tentatively accepted but nothing has been signed yet.

"We will start shooting soon."

Broadcasters from the UK and South Africa have shown interest in the project. Jeo Productions plan to shoot 12 hour-long episodes.

Although unscripted, each show will have a theme or a topic that the cast will be asked to incorporate into their day to day activities.

Emma, Jelena, Nadia, Rebecca, Rozan and Natasha are the main cast, who represent a cocktail of expatriate characters living the high life in Bahrain.

"The girls were cast on what they said," said Tito. "They all are opinionated and have something to say in ways that respect Islam.

It is a show that will portray Bahrain to the rest of the world positively.

"I love Bahrain and I want the rest of the world to love Bahrain too." - TradeArabia News Service
