Mazika wins top broadcast award

DUBAI, December 22, 2014

Mazika, a mobile and web music platform for up and coming musicians, along with ArpuPlus, a leading mobile value added services provider, won the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) BroadcastPro Middle East Awards 2014 for the Special Regional Project Category.

The event recently held in Dubai, UAE, celebrates excellence in the broadcast industry across the Arab region, said a company statement.

Mazika was also shortlisted in one of the most prestigious awards "US App Design Awards 2014", where it was the only application from the Mena region to be shortlisted this year, the statement added.

During the fourth edition of the annual ASBU BroadcastPro Middle East Awards, 18 awards were given to trendsetters and visionary market leaders for thinking out-of-the-box and taking the industry forward.

The forum prior to the gala was attended by Sameera Ebrahim bin Rajab, Bahrain’s Minister of State for Information Affairs, and gathered top broadcasting experts and professionals across the Middle East.

Some of the winners included Sky News Arabia, Alarab News Channel, Go by OSN, Saudi Broadcasting Corporation, OSN’s programmes and finally Mazika with ArpuPlus.

Moustapha Bekheet, head of Mazika, said: "This award reinforces our growing reputation as a leader for delivering one of the best music entertainment services in the region.”

“The Special Regional Project Award acknowledges the efforts of dynamic players in the Arab countries. With this unique project, Mazika has had a positive impact on the Digital Content industry regionally,” he said.

“Some of the finalists were Facebook, Aconex, Vonage, and many more. Mazika was the only app representing the Arab region at the awards," he added.

The music platform was created by ArpuPlus, a leading mobile VAS and monetisation platform solutions across the Middle East and an OTVentures company.

ArpuPlus is one of the leading content aggregators in Mena and has a long term partnership with the most prestigious music labels and local music providers in the Arab World.

Adham El Gazzar, managing director of ArpuPlus, said: “We worked to develop Mazika's applications and website to better cater to a new and trendy generation that follows the latest innovations.”

“We revamped the 16-year old music website, and re-launched it this year with a trendy look and design, along with iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows 8 applications that enable users to stream their favourite music tracks from one of the finest collections, including the best of Arabic music labels,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
