Sky News Arabia to showcase digital expertise

ABU DHABI, June 4, 2015

Abu-Dhabi-based Sky News Arabia will showcase its digital competencies at the inaugural edition of North African Media Summit to be held next week (June 9 to 10) in Cairo, Egypt.

As media partners, the channel plans to hold a series of activities at the event to reiterate its status as a leading news network providing objective and dynamic coverage across broadcast and digital media platforms.

This year’s edition is set to bring together industry experts, media personnel, and producers from across the Arab world to examine how latest digital technologies and platforms can further enhance communication with audiences, attract paid advertisements and maximise profits, said the organisers.

As part of the activities planned at the event, Sky News Arabia will take part in various panel discussions. Nart Bouran, head of Sky News Arabia, will participate in a discussion titled, ‘Breaking True News When It Happens’.

Outlining the network’s approach to breaking news in a credible and timely manner, Bouran will discuss how Sky News Arabia deploys state-of-the-art technologies to provide a comprehensive news platform for the benefit of Arab audiences.

Samir Omar, head of Sky News Arabia’s Cairo bureau, will lead a discussion on ‘Achieving an Interconnected Media Sector via Boosting Co-operation with Broadcasters’ along with Moustapha Tal, general manager of broadcasting operations at Arab Radio and Television Network (ART).

Sky News Arabia said its support to the North African Media Summit builds on its mandate to advance the scope and reach of the broadcast industry in the Arab world.

The channel, which celebrated its fourth anniversary last month, took part in the Saudi Media Forum held earlier this year, and the Arab Media Forum in Dubai last month.

Sky News Arabia, which boasts 22 bureaus throughout the Arab world and outside of it, employs 550 media personnel. It said the network has more than 10 million followers across social media platforms, and over three million users on its smartphone and mobile device applications.

Its website was recently ranked third among the most popular Arab news websites.-TradeArabia News Service
