Bahrain was showcased to the world yesterday (July 21) through social media video messaging application Snapchat.

Prominent events and world cities are frequently featured on the app, which invites users to share videos and pictures from wherever they are – whether it is Wimbledon or the Women’s Football World Cup final, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

World cities to be under the spotlight recently include London, Ramallah and Rio de Janeiro.

Bahrain is the latest in this series, with the ‘Manama Live’ event that started yesterday afternoon.

Users took the opportunity to point out Bahrain on the map, give aerial views of the city from skyscrapers and explore the old Manama Suq.

Some of the more amusing videos shared included one user who fried an egg outside solely using the head from Bahrain’s sun and a sweltering waterski session.
