Image Nation Abu Dhabi, Futurism form strategic partnership

ABU DHABI, March 28, 2018

Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Futurism, one of the web's leading science and technology publications, have formed a wide-reaching content partnership.

Via the new partnership, Image Nation & Futurism will develop and produce feature films and documentaries, along with scripted and unscripted television series.

The companies will also collaborate across existing platforms to market and distribute content. This will include Quest Arabiya, Image Nation and Discovery Communication’s free-to-air factual entertainment television channel broadcasting across MENA, and Mostaqbal, Futurism’s Arabic-language content portal.

“This deal brings two leading content creators together to tackle some of the biggest topics of our time, including technology, science and societal change,” said Ben Ross, head of Narrative Film and Television at Image Nation Abu Dhabi. “Image Nation is pleased to be partnering with Futurism and we look forward to working together to promote the media industry in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.”

Alex Klokus, CEO of Futurism, said: “The most important storytelling today involves imagining humanity building a better future, and with the rapid technological change and innovation happening in the Middle East, makes the region an ideal home to be sharing news and stories with.  Image Nation is the perfect partner to propel us into this new terrain and we look forward to leveraging our relationship to create premium content both about and for this important market.”

Image Nation Abu Dhabi is one of the leading media and entertainment companies in the Arabic-speaking world. The company recently premiered its local production Shabab Sheyab in North America to critical acclaim at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. The feel-good drama/comedy is written and directed by filmmaker and music video pioneer Yasir Al Yasiri (Ma Asab Alkalam), produced by Rami Yasin (Zinzana, The Worthy), with Emirati director Majid Al Ansari (Zinzana) serving as executive producer along with Mansour Al Feeli (Qalb Al Adala). Yasiri also serves as executive producer.

Futurism currently sees around 140 million hits a month on its website with its content based around science, technology and central narrative of tomorrow. In 2016, the company launched Arabic language website Mostaqbal, to cater for its growing Middle Eastern audience.

Futurism Studios, a content creation subsidiary of Futurism, is currently in production with EnTech Studio SingularDTV on documentary feature Trust Machine about blockchain and how this new technology is connecting us all and radically changing the world.  The film is being directed by award-winning filmmaker Alex Winter (Deep Web) and is the first film to be completely funded and distributed via blockchain technologies. - TradeArabia News Service
