Abu Dhabi Ports partners with Make-A-Wish UAE

ABU DHABI, May 6, 2018

Abu Dhabi Ports has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE (MAW) as a partner to its current CSR strategy, a media report said.

Under the terms of the agreement, Abu Dhabi Ports will help raise awareness of the activities and programs undertaken by the charitable organisation, as well as offer its assets to grant wishes for critically ill children, reported Emirates news agency Wam.

Company employees will also have the opportunity to volunteer to be part of granting the wishes in an effort to engage them more in CSR activities.

Make-A-Wish serves a unique, and vital, role in helping strengthen and empower children battling critical illnesses, inherent in the belief that wishes make life better for kids with critical illnesses. This simple, but powerful belief inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish and drives everything the foundation does.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Sheikha Nour Fahim Al Qassimi, board member, Make A Wish Foundation-UAE, by Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports and Hani Mohammed Al Zubaidi, CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Al Zubaidi said: "We are delighted to partner with socially responsible corporations in the UAE to further our cause. Our previous collaboration with Abu Dhabi Ports had seen great success and we look forward to working closely during the coming year with the company’s employees in the future."

Captain Al Shamisi added: "The Year of Zayed is an ideal opportunity to encourage UAE residents to give back to the community. Abu Dhabi Ports has already made the commitment to find meaningful and impactful ways to improve the social welfare of people living in the UAE and we are delighted to partner with Make-A-Wish Foundation as our next step. This is a truly worthy cause and our management and employees look forward to aiding this organisation wherever we can."

Last month, Abu Dhabi Ports granted their first ever wish through the Foundation for an 11-year-old Bahraini girl, Ghaya, who suffers from type 1 diabetes, whose wish it was to go on a cruise trip with her family. The wish was granted through Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal, a wholly owned asset of Abu Dhabi Ports.
